Lorde hails ‘best line-up I’ve ever been part of’ at All Points East

New Zealand popstar Lorde hailed “the best line-up I’ve ever been part of” as she headlined All Points East.

The 29-year-old said it was “so crazy” to be headlining the London festival having played at the first ever edition of the Victoria Park event in 2018.

She performed a set which drew heavily on her latest album Virgin (2025).

Midway through her set she said: “I think this is literally the best line-up I’ve ever been part of.

“It’s crazy, I went around this afternoon and watched people and I was really struck by what this group of artists are doing.

“I felt so honoured to be a part of it.

“This group of artists that you’ve seen today, have been trying to imagine a new world, it’s like I’ve been trying to find new ways to live, new ways to see, I really felt that.”

Earlier in the day, the festival saw performances from the likes of PinkPantheress, Zara Larsson and Oklou.

Lorde, wearing an all black waterproof outfit, opened with Royals from her self-titled 2013 debut album, before moving on to Virgin’s lead single What Was That.

Elsewhere during the evening she recalled coming to Victoria Park with someone she had a crush on which she said was “almost agony” before adding “and it didn’t stop, he’s here tonight”.

For Liability, video footage of Lorde’s early days was projected on to her shirt, while a banner which read “I don’t belong to anyone 2013” was passed out into the crowd during David.

She finished with Ribs, one of her earliest tracks, on a small stage in the middle of the VIP section of the crowd, who jumped along with her.

The singer, real name Ella Yelich-O’Connor, released her first studio album in almost four years in June last year.

On the day of the album’s release she surprised fans with a secret set at Glastonbury Festival, where she performed Virgin in full.

The chart-topping record is her fourth studio album. Her previous albums, Pure Heroine (2013), Melodrama (2017) and Solar Power (2021) all reached the top 10 in the UK albums chart.

The singer is best known for songs such as Green Light, Solar Power and her 2013 single Royals, which reached number one in the UK singles chart.
