Manchester United are eyeing a transfer Deadline Day swoop for Louis Page, though the midfielder starts for Leicester today.

Page was linked with a move to Old Trafford earlier in the summer, and following weeks of radio silence regarding a possible deal, progress has been made between United and Leicester.

According to reports, Page could now join the Red Devils a fee of more than £10million, though while discussions are ongoing, there is no guarantee that a deal gets done before the window closes.

In perhaps a big boost for United’s hopes of beating the deadline, it was reported that the 18-year-old would be left out of Leicester’s matchday squad against Plymouth.

However, that is not the case with Page handed a start by Russell Martin at the King Power Stadium.

Page is regarded as one of the brightest young talents outside the Premier League.

He was named EFL Apprentice of the Year last season, despite Leicester’s relegation to League One and has already made 25 senior appearances to date.

A left-footed central midfielder, with a preference to attack, the teenager stands at over six-feet tall and has often been commended for his ability to escape a press and arrive late in the penalty area for goalscoring opportunities.

Page is said to be a Man United supporter, giving them a key advantage in a competitive transfer chase involving Premier League champions Arsenal.

Meanwhile, things currently appear quiet in terms of other acquisitions for United despite looking short at left-back in particular.

The main focus this summer has been rebuilding Michael Carrick’s midfield, with Carlos Baleba joining from Brighton last week in a £70million deal.

Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans arrived from Chelsea and Aston Villa respectively in July following influential Casemiro’s exit and Manuel Ugarte suffering a serious knee injury.

United recovered from a shock 2-0 loss at promoted Hull in their Premier League opener by beating Ipswich 5-2 on Sunday.
