Major crash forces motorway to close northbound causing three-mile queues

The M6 northbound carriageway currently remains blocked between junction 35 and junction 36.

The M6 has been closed northbound following a crash, resulting in significant traffic disruption.

One lane has been shut between the Lancaster and Carnforth junctions (J34 and J35) while emergency services attend the scene.

Traffic is now being allowed to pass via lanes two and three, but considerable tailbacks remain.

National Highways has warned delays are exceeding 60 minutes ahead of the incident.

Congestion has also stretched back around three miles.
