Brave villagers stepped in to detain a man suspected of firing arrows in a busy street in a West Yorkshire village.
A man was reportedly seen throwing rubbish and household items out of a car he was driving on Huddersfield Road in Skelmanthorpe, at about 5.30pm on Tuesday.
Police said the man then exited the car and began firing a bow and arrow at cars damaging them.
Armed police rushed to the scene where the man had been restrained by members of the public. He was arrested by district officers at 5.58pm.
There were no reports of any injuries.

A 68-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and remains in custody.
Det Ch Insp Oliver Coates said: ‘We recognise that this incident will have caused understandable concern in the community due to the serious nature of it and the fact it occurred in a busy area and was witnessed by many people.
‘An increased police presence will remain in the area this evening while the scenes are examined.’
