
An 86-year-old man has died in a two-vehicle crash near Tain in the Highlands.
Police said the collision, which happened on the A9 at Tarlogie at about 17:15 on Saturday, involved a white Peugeot 208 and a white Renault Master Luton van.
Emergency services attended but the Peugeot driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The van driver was taken to hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Officers said the road was closed for crash investigations and reopened at about 03:25.
Sgt Chris Donaldson said inquiries were ongoing to establish the full circumstances and urged anyone with information or dashcam footage to get in touch.
