A bungalow in Milton Keynes was destroyed in just seconds after a suspected gas explosion yesterday.

One man is seriously injured after the property in Newton Longville, near Milton Keynes, was caught on doorbell video exploding at around 9.44am.

The injured man, believed to be from the bungalow, has been taken to hospital while his Doberman dog was also taken to the vet after the close call.

An eyewitness said the home was ‘almost completely demolished’, with another saying they heard the bang three miles away in Bletchley.

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: ‘At around 9.44am (09/08) emergency services were called to Cobb Hall Road, to a report of an explosion, fire and collapse of a property.

‘One person sustained injuries, requiring hospital treatment, where they remain.’

A local pub quickly became a meeting point for neighbours who had to evacuate their homes after the blast.

The Crooked Billet landlady Ness Thornton-Kitchen told the BBC: ‘The pub is all about being the middle of the village and the middle of the community.

‘Those people that needed us and needed that help had somewhere safe to come.’

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue said they were dealing with a suspected gas explosion and had sent four fire engines to the scene.
