Man appears in court charged with murder following death of man in West Lothian


A man has appeared in court charged with murder following the death of another man in West Lothian.
Police were called to a report of an injured man in a property on Harestanes Road, Armadale, at around 11.50am on Saturday.
William Watson, known as Billy, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives said on Wednesday that following a post-mortem examination, the 35-year-old’s death was being treated as murder.
Officers said Mr Watson suffered fatal injuries consistent with being shot by a firearm.
Frank McCarthy appeared at Livingston Sheriff Court on Friday where he was charged with murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
The 57-year-old made no plea and he was remanded in custody. He will appear in court again within eight days.
Earlier in the day, police announced that two more men, aged 29 and 44, were also arrested in connection with the death.
