Man charged with woman's murder appears in court

A man charged with murdering a woman at a former church in Dartmouth has appeared in court.

Luke Rigby, 38, is accused of murdering 46-year-old Rebecca Grass at the converted St Barnabas Church in Newcomen Road on 6 October.

He also faces charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, assault and assaulting an emergency worker.

Rigby appeared by video link from Torquay police station at Plymouth Magistrates' Court and and is due to appear at Plymouth Crown Court on Monday. During the hearing he spoke only to confirm his name, age and address and that he understood the proceedings.
