A 43-year-old man has died following a two-car crash on the A867 in North Uist on Wednesday night.

Police said the man was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow where he died a short time later.

A 36-year-old man was taken to hospital in Benbecula.

The collision happened at about 21:00 and the A867 has been closed between Lochmaddy and Clachan to allow for a police investigation.
