A man has been shot dead in a north London pub, with detectives releasing a CCTV image of a person they want to speak to as part of a murder probe.

The victim, 35, was gunned down in the pub on Hertford Road, Enfield, at around 9.30pm on Monday.

Paramedics treated him for gunshot wounds at the scene while the air ambulance and armed police were called to the scene.

The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made, but an image of someone the Metropolitan Police want to speak to in connection with their investigation is being circulated as part of the witness appeal.

The police say it is not clear if that person in the photo is male or female, or possibly in disguise.

A police statement said: ‘On Monday, 19 October at around 9.30pm, police were called to reports of a shooting at a pub on Hertford Road, Enfield.

‘Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.

‘A 35-year-old man was treated by paramedics for gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.’

Officers said the victim’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The statement added: ‘CCTV enquiries have identified a person detectives would like to speak to in connection with the investigation.

‘While unclear at this early stage whether this was a man or woman, or if the person is wearing a disguise, detectives are urging anyone who recognises the person in the image to come forward.’

A crime scene remains in place while officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

Forensics teams are scouring for clues while officers carry out door-to-door inquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, who is leading the investigation, said: ‘Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this unimaginably difficult time as they begin to come to terms with this senseless act.

‘We are releasing CCTV images of a person we would like to identify and speak to in connection with the investigation as our enquiries progress swiftly.

‘We are also particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have CCTV, doorbell, dashcam or mobile phone footage that could assist our enquiries.’

Local police patrols have been stepped up following the death.

Chief Superintendent Anna McCartney, who leads policing in the area, said: ‘We recognise the concern local people will have and can reassure them that our officers are working urgently to identify and trace those responsible.

‘Serious violence has no place in our community, and the Met remains fully committed to tackling gun crime.

‘We are determined to establish exactly what happened and provide much-needed answers for those affected by this tragic incident.’
