A man has pleaded guilty to murdering his mother at the home they shared in a village in Derbyshire.

Officers were called to a property in The Crest, Linton, shortly after 14:30 BST on 21 June and found Joan Hardy with stab wounds.

The 72-year-old died at the scene and her son Adrian Hardy, 52, was subsequently arrested and charged with murder.

At Derby Crown Court on Tuesday, he admitted murder and will be sentenced at a later date, which Derbyshire Police said was expected to be in December.
