Manchester United have announced their third transfer since Deadline Day.

While Man Utd were one of two Premier League clubs to not do any business on Deadline Day, thee business has not stopped since the summer transfer window closed.

Last Wednesday night Chido Obi’s loan move to Willem II was confirmed., followed soon after by Jack Moorhouse's move to Dundee on a similar deal.

And now James Overy has departed on a permanent deal, joining Sydney FC on a three-year deal.

The highly-rated Australian teenager returns to Australia, where he was born, two years after Perth Glory.

Overy, a right-back has progressed through Australia's youth system, featuring for the Young Socceroos at the Under-20 World Cup and the Australian Under-23 side, while also being included in senior Socceroos squads despite not making his international debut.

And now Overy, 18, has taken the decision to return to Australia, after time with Man Utd’s academy, as he targets his first senior international cap.

Overy said his time at United had been valuable but believes returning to Australia is the right move for his development.

"I've had an unbelievable experience at Manchester United and learned so much from being in that environment every day, but I feel this is the right time for me to take the next step and play senior football," he said.

"Sydney FC is a massive club with a history of winning trophies and developing young Australian players, so I'm really excited to be joining.

"I want to come in, work hard, compete for a place in the team and show what I can do.

"Being involved with the Socceroos has given me a taste of where I want to get to and playing regularly for Sydney FC is a huge opportunity for me to keep developing and hopefully earn more opportunities with the national team.

"I can't wait to get started and pull on the Sky Blue shirt."

Sydney manager Patrick Kisnorbo believes Overy has the attributes to make an immediate impact, describing him as "quick, aggressive, technically very good" and praising his attacking instincts from right-back.

"He has spent two important years developing in an elite environment at Manchester United and now he needs regular senior football to take the next step in his career," Kisnorbo said.

"He has already been around the Socceroos at only 18, which demonstrates how highly regarded he is, and what a good character he is as well.

"We're delighted James has chosen Sydney FC and I'm looking forward to working with him."

Overy could make his Sydney FC debut against Melbourne Victory in Wednesday's Australia Cup semi-final.
