Manchester United transfer news: Arsenal fight for prolific striker; Bundesliga star 'open to move'

Manchester United are beginning to line up targets for the January transfer window, despite it not opening for three months.
It was a busy summer at Old Trafford, with a thorough midfield overhaul executed, but there are still plenty of gaps in Michael Carrick’s squad which may need patching in the winter window.
They are said to have a new left-back and a star striker high on the shopping list, with targets, and, crucially, their competition now starting to be revealed.
Here are all the latest Manchester United transfer rumours...
Matanovic race heats up amid Arsenal interest
Per reports from Caught Offside, the 23-year-old target man is widely expected to earn a move to a top club in the coming months. United have been ‘discussing’ the player, while both Arsenal and Chelsea have sent scouts to watch him.
He caught the eye of Europe’s heavyweights last season when he hit 15 goals across all competitions for Freiburg, but he is on track to smash that record this season - he has already managed three in four Bundesliga appearances.
United and Arsenal are both in the market for star strikers, but it remains to be seen whether Chelsea would be tempted to splash out on a player who would likely serve as a backup for Joao Pedro.
Price set for Truffert
Bournemouth will demand a minimum price of £60m for United target Adrien Truffert.
The French left-back is reportedly seen as an ideal long-term replacement for Luke Shaw, with the Red Devils set to overhaul their defence in coming windows.
The Cherries, though, are not interested in letting the defender leave on the cheap after he played all 38 of their Premier League matches last season.
Left-back target ‘says yes’ to United move
RB Leipzig captain David Raum has reportedly approved a move to United.
Another potential option at left-back, the 28-year-old has garnered interest from Juventus, but United are said to be frontrunners for his signature.
United could move for the German in January as they look to add sorely needed depth at left-back.
