Marcus Rashford drops Manchester United transfer hint ahead of Premier League opener
Marcus Rashford has issued another indication that he could be staying at Manchester United this season.
The forward has returned to his boyhood club after two loan spells at Aston Villa and Barcelona in the past season and a half.
The England international had fallen out of favour with former United boss Ruben Amorim, and as such, made his last competitive appearance for the club back in December 2024.
He returned to action under new manager Michael Carrick in pre-season, as United were beaten 4-2 by Amorim’s AC Milan in their final friendly ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Rashford sported the No9 shirt that day, fuelling further talk that his future lay at Old Trafford.
Carrick has welcomed the winger back into the first-team fold after his prolonged break following the World Cup, where Rashford played six times, scoring and assisting once.
Yet despite his comeback, rumours still rumble on about whether he will remain a United player after the transfer deadline passes on September 1.
Now 28, the forward has ignited conversation about his future once more after replying to a ‘Stick to Football’ clip on social media.
In the clip, Jamie Carragher vented his frustration about Rashford being a topic of conversation once more after Gary Neville had asked for his thoughts on the forward going into the new season.
“Can we do a podcast without mentioning Rashford?
“Stop it. Oh my God. It’s like the Trent (Alexander-Arnold) and Rashford…like a little part of the podcast. The Trent part or the Rashford part.”
Rashford took to X to respond, writing: “Thanks, Jamie.
“It would be great to be able to get my head down and play football without my name being mentioned every day.”
United travel to newly-promoted Hull City in their opening fixture of the season on Saturday, and Rashford is in contention to feature alongside Carrick’s new signings Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.
