Melania Trump has appeared to hint at growing distance between herself and her 20-year-old son Barron.
The First Lady, 56, spoke on Fox Business’s The Big Money Show about family time in the face of a busy schedule.
She told co-host Taylor Riggs that she doesn’t see her husband, US President Donald Trump, or her son as much as she wants.
‘It’s good to schedule, it’s always good because everybody’s so busy,’ Melania advised Taylor.
‘My husband is working – sometimes he’s in the Oval Office until 9.30 at night, so do you wait [until then to] have dinner? You don’t. He’s busy, I’m busy too.’
She confessed there’s ‘less and less family time’ and there is ‘suffering because of it’ in a rare moment of emotional insight.
Melania continued: ‘But that’s okay. We are here to work, to do a good job, and that’s what matters.’
‘Barron is already a young man, so sometimes he’s maybe even happy that I just want to do my stuff. And that’s okay.’
Last month, it was reported that Barron has become fairly reclusive, with claims that he ‘doesn’t go out’ after being shaken by the death of Charlie Kirk.
The First Lady’s office said that ‘in light of recent threats,’ the East Wing asked that ‘any details concerning [Barron’s] private life be excluded from all coverage.’
He finished his sophomore year at New York University and for much of the summer was said to be in New Jersey at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster with his mum.
Earlier this year, he was praised for calling UK police from the US when his friend was beaten up by Matvei Rumiantsev, 23,
During the attack, he answered a FaceTime call on her phone from the president’s son and turned the camera around to film himself kicking her while she cowered, crying on the floor.
Rumiantsev denied it but was found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and perverting the course of justice.
Giving evidence at Snaresbrook Crown Court, the woman said Trump’s call to the UK police ‘helped save my life’.
Barron did apologise while on the call with the operator, who told him to ‘stop being rude’ and answer the questions, seemingly unaware he was the US President’s son.
