Eberechi Eze has been handed a big boost to his hopes of starting more games for Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta revealed on Monday that the England international would have “many opportunities” to play, especially after the former Crystal Palace star was snubbed in favour of Noni Madueke last weekend.

His compatriot starred off the left flank in the Gunners’ 2-1 win over Leeds, with Madueke coming into the side after Christos Tzolis suffered an injury on international duty with Greece.

Now, ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League tie with Lille, Arteta outlined the criteria that Eze and those other Gunners players struggling for game time need to reach in order to be selected.

"Like everybody else I think they need to earn the right to play,” the Spaniard explained.

“That's up to training sessions and when you are on that pitch to have the impact on the game that the team needs, in order to achieve that."He [Eze] is going to have many opportunities to do that.

“His attitude is phenomenal and our players have to adapt as well to his qualities."

Madueke, who was picked ahead of Eze last weekend, played the full 90 minutes at the Emirates Stadium and impressed his manager with his performance.

Eze, meanwhile, was an unused substitute, and the No10 has not started a league game this term for the north Londoners.

His appearances have been limited to substitute cameos, although he did get the nod in the League Cup and Champions League wins over Ipswich and Napoli respectively.
