Commuters should have made their coffee extra strong this morning as they face another day of travel disruption.
The morning rush hour is off to a sticky start on the Elizabeth line and London Underground.
A pesky signalling fault at Paddington is hampering the Elizabeth line services on the route, causing severe delays and cancellations.
And the issue is expected to continue throughout the morning rush hour at least until midday.
National Rail said: ‘A fault with the signalling system at London Paddington means that Elizabeth line services must run at a reduced speed on some lines.
‘As a result, Elizabeth line services to or from this station may be cancelled, delayed or revised.
‘Disruption is expected until 12:00.’
The delays are the worst between Paddington and Heathrow Terminals T4 and T5, and Reading, the latest TfL travel status update shows.
Transport for London said the route westbound from Paddington has severe delays ‘while we fix a signal failure in the Paddington area.’
Passengers can use tickets they already bought on the Underground, Great Western Railway (GWR) and South Western Railway.
Meanwhile, the District line was reporting serious delays before being downgraded to minor status.
This is affecting the stretches between Earl’s Court and Ealing Broadway, Earl’s Court and Kensington (Olympia), Earl’s Court and Richmond, and Upminster and Tower Hill.
Yesterday, passengers were caught up in travel chaos on the London Paddington route, caused by overrunning engineering works which had blocked some lines.
Elsewhere, a fire next to the track in Tring is wreaking havoc on trains between Milton Keynes Central and Watford Central.
Trains face cancellations and delays of up to 20 minutes on the London Euston route, affecting Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern Railway services.
