A 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder and attempted murder after a teenager was killed and another seriously injured in Stoke-on-Trent.

Police were called to Brookhouse Road in Meir at 23:45 BST on Friday where a man in his late teens was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two more teens, a 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, have been arrested over the incident - both on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

Staffordshire Police said four other people previously arrested have since been bailed with strict conditions.

The 17-year-old, from Hanley, cannot be named because of his age.

He appeared at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Tuesday where he was remanded to a youth detention centre ahead of an appearance at Stafford Crown Court on Wednesday.

Officers attended the property after receiving reports of violence. The second man, also in his late teens, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The force said local officers were maintaining a visible presence in the Meir area, carrying out engagement patrols, to reassure the local community.

Anyone with information, CCTV, dashcam, doorbell or social media footage has been urged to upload it anonymously to the force's dedicated portal.
