Police have launched a murder probe following the death of a man in his 30s in south London.
Metropolitan Police officers were called to an address in Poynders Road, Lambeth, SW4, at around 8.35pm on Friday after a report from the London Fire Brigade.
The man was found with serious head injuries and, despite the efforts of emergency responders, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell said, at this stage, police believe it to be an ‘isolated incident’ and ‘there is no evidence to suggest any wider risk to the public’.
‘This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones as they come to terms with their loss.’
She added that the force is ‘working hard to establish exactly what happened’, with a team of detectives ‘progressing a number of enquiries at pace’.
‘I would urge anyone who was in the area, or who may have seen or heard anything unusual, to come forward and speak to us.
‘Even the smallest piece of information could prove vital in helping us understand the circumstances surrounding this man’s death.’
No arrests have been made yet, but Poynders Road remains a crime scene.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: ‘The brigade was called to effect an entry to a property on Poynders Road, Lambeth.
‘Upon gaining entry, firefighters discovered the body of a man in the property. Despite the efforts of firefighters and paramedics, he was declared dead at the scene.’
