Murder investigation launched after man shot dead near West London memorial gathering

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was shot dead in West London on Friday evening.
Police and paramedics were called to the junction of Braybrook Street and Erconwald Street , East Acton, at about 7.45pm following reports that multiple gunshots had been heard.
A 40-year-old man was found injured at the scene and treated by the London Ambulance Service. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead.
The victim's family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Detectives believe the shooting took place while dozens of people, including children, were attending a memorial gathering nearby.
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, who is leading the investigation, said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of a man whose life was taken in a senseless act of violence.
"We understand a large number of people had gathered for a memorial service and what should have been a time to come together in remembrance has instead left a family devastated."
Police said between 40 and 50 people are believed to have been present when the shooting occurred.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course, although officers believe the victim suffered a gunshot wound.
No arrests have been made.
A crime scene remains in place on Braybrook Street as detectives work to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
DCI Howie appealed for witnesses to come forward, saying: "Someone knows what happened and we need them to come forward.
"If you were around Erconwald Street, Braybrook Street, the surrounding roads or Wormwood Scrubs playground between 6pm and 8pm, please think carefully about what you saw.
"Did you see anyone carrying or concealing weapons, people on bicycles acting suspiciously, or vehicles being driven at speed?"
Officers are also seeking photographs, mobile phone footage, dashcam recordings and doorbell camera images that could assist the investigation.
