A third day of significant disruption is affecting Tube services in north London after a major fire near Wembley Stadium.

Around 125 firefighters were scrambled to a mixed waste facility on an industrial estate in Neasden just after 11.30am on Friday as the fire broke out.

Huge plumes of smoke could be seen in the sky in videos posted on social media, with firefighters still battling the blaze into the evening.

The fire, close to rail lines, has affected the Metropolitan and Jubilee lines since.

On sunday, there is still no service between Baker Street and Aldgate on the Metropolitan line and severe delays on the rest of the line. This is expected to continue to the end of the day.

It is understood poor air quality has made it unsafe for trains to run on the Metropolitan line tracks near where the fire took place, while the level of “toxic air” is also preventing any TfL staff entering a train depot nearby to bring more trains into service.

There are also severe delays on the Jubilee line but that line is running in full as air quality is not so seriously affected. Neasden station remains closed.

National Rail is not reporting any further delays to trains to and from London Marylebone after serious disruption on Friday and Saturday.

Chiltern Railways services have returned to normal, but passengers are advised to check for the latest travel information before setting out.

The London Fire Brigade are continuing to investigate the fire.
