On Tuesday, the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) confirmed the first three carriages of the train derailed, and said it had been travelling at 7mph.

RAIB said as a result of its preliminary examination of the circumstances surrounding the incident and having assessed the evidence it has, it will publish a safety digest within “the next few weeks”.
