No trace of a missing fishing boat has been found at two sites, off the north of the Isle of Lewis, that experts had identified for further investigation.

Three men were on board the Kilda when it disappeared on 13 October.

The body of crew member Douglas Craigie was found by search teams the following day but two other men - Norman Murray and Murdo Morrison - remain unaccounted for.

Northern Lighthouse Board vessel the NLV Pharos had identified the sites, and they were investigated by the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) with assistance from fish farm company Mowi.

A maritime exclusion zone in the area has now been lifted, while the MAIB's preliminary assessment into the loss of Kilda continues.

NLV Pharos is large ship with white and dark blue hull. It has a heli deck with a small helicopter on it.

Insp Neil Taylor, of Police Scotland, said: "Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by this tragic incident.

"We continue to work with partners, including the MAIB, Maritime and Coastguard Agency and local maritime experts to locate the Kilda and the two missing men.

"We are grateful for the support of all of our partners, including the NLV Pharos and staff from Mowi for their assistance with the search."

The NLV Pharos was brought in to assist with the search as it has hydrographic and wreck survey equipment.
