A man has been arrested after police stopped a taxi travelling the wrong way down a dual carriageway, after a cyclist was knocked off their bike and parked cars were also damaged.

Officers intervened on the A55 on Anglesey on Monday evening and temporarily closed the road, with footage on social media appearing to show a taxi being pulled over by police vehicles.

North Wales Police said that before the taxi had gone onto the road the cyclist had been knocked off their bike on London Road in nearby Holyhead, and several parked vehicles had also been damaged.

The cyclist was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and the arrested man remained in custody on Tuesday.

Police said there were no collisions as a result of the vehicle travelling in the wrong direction, but their investigation was ongoing.
