The owner of Scotland's "oldest established hotel" has gone into administration due to "significant operating challenges".
The Salutation Hotel in Perth, formerly a 17th Century coaching inn, is one of eight hotels run by East Kilbride-based Strathmore Hotels Ltd.
The company's other sites are in the Highlands, Argyll and the north of England.
Joint administrators said the hotels would continue to trade and the firm's 410 employees would be retained while options for the business were reviewed.
'Business as usual'
Strathmore Hotels Ltd also operates Fort William's Alexandra Hotel and Ben Nevis Hotel and Country Club, as well as the Ben Wyvis Hotel in Strathpeffer, the Nethybridge Hotel near Aviemore, and Royal Hotel in Oban.
In England, it owns the Cairn Hotel in Harrogate and Cumbria Grand Hotel in the Lake District.
The Salutation Hotel in Perth started life as a private house before becoming a coaching inn in1699.
Bonnie Prince Charlie is said to have commandeered a room in the hotel in 1745.
The hotel's main entrance facade was added in the 1800s.
Strathmore Hotels describes the Salutation as Scotland's oldest established hotel.
The joint administrators said it was "very much business as usual" while the joint they explored options for the future.
'Sustained pressure'
Alistair McAlinden and James Dewar from Interpath were appointed joint administrators to Strathmore Hotels on Tuesday.
They said the company had been under "sustained creditor pressure" for a number of months, resulting in it being subject to a winding up petition in July.
Customers have been advised that all eight of the hotels continued to trade.
McAlinden said: "The hospitality sector has faced a number of significant challenges in recent years, including rising operating costs, inflationary pressures, workforce shortages and changing consumer spending patterns.
"Unfortunately, Strathmore Hotels has not been immune to these headwinds and has also experienced sustained financial difficulties, resulting in the appointment of the joint administrators."
He added: "Our immediate priority is to ensure continuity across the business.
"We recognise that this news may be concerning for employees, customers, and suppliers."
