Oxford Street window takeover: Selfridges launches search for London's next creative stars

Selfridges is giving six up-and-coming creatives the chance to put their work in the spotlight by taking over the windows of its flagship Oxford Street store.
Aspiring fashion designers, photographers, set designers, stylists, makeup artists and graphic designers are being invited to showcase their skills to thousands of passers-by on one of London's busiest shopping streets.
Applications opened on October 16 and will close at midnight on October 23.
To be in with a chance, applicants must submit a link to their work, alongside a statement explaining what inspires them, what the opportunity would mean to them and how they envision bringing their ideas to life.
Shortlisted creatives will receive £1,000 to develop and pitch their proposals to a panel of industry experts and representatives from Selfridges and Dazed.
The six winning creatives will each be awarded a £3,000 fee, plus a separate production budget to turn their visions into eye-catching window displays.
Selfridges Creative Director Will Wyness said: “Selfridges’ Oxford Street windows are among the most famous visual spaces on Earth.
“A show across these windows will arguably be seen by more people than an exhibition at every major gallery in London combined.”
“This open call is a chance to discover some of the most exciting talent out there, giving selected artists a platform to reach new audiences and take their careers to the next level,” he said.
