Pedro Porro: Tottenham star makes transfer admission amid Real Madrid and Barcelona interest

Pedro Porro has admitted that he would “love” to return to Spain one day.
The Tottenham defender signed a new deal in north London before winning the World Cup with his country over the summer.
The right-back had a slightly blighted start to the new season, arriving back late after a deep run in north America, where he was Spain’s starting right-back in their 1-0 victory over Argentina in the final.
He then suffered a hamstring injury that kept him sidelined for a month, but he returned to action in Spurs’ 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge, making a cameo appearance off the bench.
He is back in contention to face Crystal Palace this weekend, but as the January transfer window creeps up on Premier League sides, talk of Porro’s future has risen to the fore again.
“Obviously, I’d love to return to Spain someday,” he told El Larguero. “It’s my country, and I like the league.
“Right now, it would be very unfair to talk about anything other than my club because I’m under contract, but obviously, I’d love to go back to Spain; it’s a big dream of mine.”
The Spaniard had reportedly been on both Real Madrid and Barcelona’s radars before he committed his future to Spurs, and Porro was unable to split which side he preferred more.
“I’ll let people decide,” he continued. “I consider myself a player who can adapt to any situation.”
He did emphasise his happiness at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and his contentedness with his new deal, despite there being some interest in his services earlier this year.
“The club gave me the option to renew before the World Cup without knowing what was going to happen. It was a very nice gesture,” he said.
“Afterwards, they gave me a great tribute; I feel very loved, and that’s very important to me. They’ve given me a good contract, although if I had waited until after the World Cup, I would have gotten more.
“There were rumours, but I was focused on doing well for my country. If there’s real interest, they call you directly, and that didn’t happen. There were clubs that enquired about my situation, but there wasn’t any real interest. I didn’t want to listen too much. Tottenham probably asked for a lot of money for me because they value me as one of the best.”
