Little Mix star Perrie Edwards has remembered her dog as “one of the greatest gifts I have ever been given” in a lengthy tribute after his death.

The 33-year-old singer adopted Pomeranian Hatchi in 2012 with her partner at the time, former One Direction star Zayn Malik.

Edwards revealed on Instagram on Wednesday that her “fur baby” and “little shadow” Hatchi had died, in an emotional post in which she said he was “such a huge part” of her life.

She shared a carousel of photos and videos of Hatchi through the years, including several of her four-year-old son Axel with him.

The caption said: “My Hatchi. 14 years with you, and somehow it still could never have been enough.

“You weren’t just my dog. You were my fur baby, my little shadow, my companion and one of the greatest gifts I have ever been given.

“You were there beside me through every chapter and every milestone of my life. Through the happiest moments and the hardest ones.”

In the touching message, shared to her 18 million followers, Edwards said Hatchi was “such a huge part” of her life and “travelled the world with me”, including on tour with Little Mix.

“Wherever life took me, you were part of it,” she wrote. “I hope you knew how loved you were, Hatchi.”

Edwards went on to say she hopes her dog had “the happiest, fullest, most beautiful life”, and continued: “You gave me 14 years of unconditional love, loyalty and memories that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

“My heart is completely broken knowing I won’t see your little face in the morning, hear your footsteps, cuddle you or have you following me around anymore.

“The house and my heart already feel emptier without you.”

The singer concluded the post dedicated to her “best little friend” by saying she will love and miss him forever, adding that “a piece of my heart went with you”.

Former Love Island star Chris Hughes called the situation “so sad”, while model Lauren Pope said she is “so sorry” and sent Edwards “lots of love”.

Edwards said in 2024 that her dog was “a bit poorly”, and said it was due to him “getting a bit old”.

The singer rose to fame alongside Thirlwall, Jesy Nelson and Leigh Anne Pinnock after winning The X Factor in 2011 as Little Mix.

The group, known for hits such as Wings, Shout Out To My Ex and Black Magic, went on to achieve five UK number one singles and one UK number one album.

After Nelson left the band in December 2020, the group continued to perform as a trio until they went on a hiatus in 2022.

Edwards has since launched a solo career, performing under the stage name Perrie, and released new music including Forget About Us, Tears and You Go Your Way.

She recently tied the knot with her partner of almost a decade, professional footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and the couple have two children together.
