Detectives want to speak to a man in connection with the death of a 56-year-old following an outbreak of violent disorder.

Gwent Police has appealed for Anthony Paul Jones, 40, from Blaenavon, Torfaen, to come forward after the force launched a murder investigation.

Last Thursday, firearms officers were called to Mill Street in Pontnewynydd, near Pontypool, and 10 men were arrested and two were taken to hospital.

Anthony "Tony" Jones, from Brecon, was critically injured and later died.

Police are also looking for a blue Ford Transit van, registration MA23 FLC, that was reportedly involved in the disorder.

The van is believed to be missing its front lower nearside panel.

The men arrested are aged between 31 and 73, and three have been released on bail.

Det Supt Laura Bartley said she understood the incident would "cause concern in our communities" but reassured people that officers were working "around the clock" as the investigation continued.

"Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the victim," she said.
