Police investigating a double murder in Glasgow have seized more than 4,000 hours of CCTV footage as they work “tirelessly” on the inquiry.

Paul Lafferty 50, and Gary Beaton, 54, were found with serious injuries at a property in Chancellor Street in the Partick area of the city on Sunday August 16.

They were pronounced dead at the scene and police launched a murder inquiry after post-mortem examinations were carried out.

Detectives have visited more than 170 properties as part of “extensive” door-to-door inquiries and have seized thousands of hours worth of CCTV footage as investigations continue.

They are urging anyone with information to contact them.

Detective Superintendent Cheryl Kelly, of the major investigation team, said: “This is a very difficult time for the families of both Paul and Gary, and they continue to be supported by specialist officers.

“We have significant resources dedicated to getting them answers and we would again urge anyone with information to come forward.

“As well as inquiries being carried out in Chancellor Street, there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes, including exploring forensic opportunities.

“While this may not be as visible, please be assured we are working tirelessly and are following a number of significant lines of inquiry.

“We have seized more than 4,000 hours of public and private CCTV footage as part of the investigation.

“Extensive inquiries are ongoing and I want to thank everyone who has already come forward to assist with our investigation.

“We are still keen to hear from anyone with any information. If you know something, please do the right thing and contact us.”

Police said that detectives from the major investigation team are being supported by national resources, including specialist officers from forensic services.

Superintendent Craig Brady, of Greater Glasgow Division, said: “My thoughts remain with the family and friends of Paul and Gary.

“This was a shocking incident for the Partick community, and I understand there will be concerns for those living in the area.

“I would like to thank everyone for their help with the investigation so far.

“High visibility patrols remain in the area and there will be an increased police presence as the investigation continues.
