A popular BBQ restaurant chain has suddenly closed all of its London sites.

Bodean’s, which has sites in Soho, Tower Hill, and Camden, says all of its sites are “currently closed” with all locations listed on Google as temporarily shut.

The message on Bodean’s website reads: “We’re currently closed. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and would like to thank you for your continued support and loyalty.

“We appreciate your understanding during this time and hope to welcome you again in the future. Thank you for dining with us.”

Bodean’s was founded in 2002 by Canadian restaurateur Andre Blais in 2002.

Richard Turner, former executive chef at Hawksmoor, joined the group as chef director last year, and headed a brand revamp, which included a return to its Kansas City barbecue roots.

The restaurant has a core philosophy of “barbecue, bourbon, and beer”, serving classics including slow-smoked brisket, pulled pork and enormous sharing platters.

The chain was also known for its extensive beer collection, which included a roster of American beers, or a “Boilermaker; a half pint of PBR and shot of Four Roses bourdon”.

At one point the chain had eight sites across the capital, with the now closed sites located in Covent Garden, Balham, Muswell Hill and Clapham and Fulham.

Another steakhouse chain, Bar + Block, has announced that it will shut all its restaurants next month.

A number of individual and chain restaurants have struggled in recent months, with many closing due to higher employment costs, surging business rates, inflation and lower customer spending.
