Prince Harry admits he wants to ‘work things out’ with estranged Charles and William

Prince Harry has revealed in an in-depth interview that he is keen to resolve the family rift with Charles and William.

The Duke of Sussex has admitted he wants to reconcile his relationship with dad King Charles and his brother Prince William.

The 42-year-old royal reflected on his life, past and family in a candid interview with GQ magazine.

Harry admitted he wants to ‘work it out’ with his family, and said he often ends up talking about the topic of ‘broken relationships’ with people.

He told GQ: ‘Some people don’t want it to work out. I want it to work out. With everything else that’s going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile. That’s the key point.’

The duke admitted that ‘of course’ he grieves being estranged from William, 44, adding that the topic is ‘another massively relatable issue for so many people.’

He said: ‘There’s siblings disagreements. Broken relationships between kids and their parents. That continues to come with me the whole time with people I speak to.’

Prince William and Harry’s public appearances have dwindled to nothing since the rift, which the Duke of Sussex admitted in 2019.

They were pictured together in July 2021 at the unveiling of the statue of Princess Diana in Kensington Palace’s Sunken Garden, raising hopes the pair could be patching things up as they were seen speaking to each other.

More than a year after in September 2022, the brothers walked side by side at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral service.

However, hopes of any resolution were dashed as the pair stayed distant at the coronation of their father, King Charles III, in May 2023.

Their bond appears to have become more strained after Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties and spoke publicly about their experiences with ‘The Firm.’

Harry has previously opened up about his life and relationships, including in his 2023 memoir Spare, which fleshed out the impact Princess Diana’s death had on him.

It also put the spotlight on his relationship with his older brother Prince William, King Charles and his dad’s marriage to Queen Camilla, and detailed his marriage to Meghan and the couple’s high-profile move to California.

Before Spare rocked the royals’ bond, the Sussexes gave a tell-all interview to Oprah in 2021, followed by a Netflix documentary.

It comes just weeks after Harry and Meghan moved back to the UK with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet before the children started school in England.

William and Harry are believed not to have met since the Sussexes’ return to the UK.

Meanwhile, Charles is understood to have reunited with Prince Harry, Meghan and the children at Highgrove House this summer during their UK trip.
