Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘not on the same page’ over UK plans

Britain's Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, leave at the end of the National Service of Thanksgiving for The Queen's reign at Saint Paul's Cathedral in London on June 3, 2022

It’s been just over a month since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved back to the UK.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who made the move with their two children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, left London for the US way back in January 2020, when they officially stepped down as senior royals.

So far, the family seems to be enjoying life on this side of the pond, sharing wholesome days on Instagram of them relaxing by roaring fires and riding bicycles in the countryside.

However, according to one royal source, it could soon be trouble in paradise for Harry and Meghan, as they decide where to spend the festive season.

An insider told Heatworld that while Harry would prefer to stay in the UK
— the last time the couple spent Christmas with the royals was in 2018 when they were pregnant with Archie — Meghan would rather her family head back to the US.

Plus, with Archie and Lilibet now settled in the UK after it was reported they had to switch schools due to security concerns, it’s likely Harry doesn’t want to disrupt their routine any more.

The insider said: ‘With the kids in school, they can’t keep bouncing between California and the UK whenever they feel like it, so they’ve got some difficult decisions coming up because they are not on the same page.’

The source also claimed that the festive season in the UK is a special time for Harry, and he ‘hates the idea of leaving England over Christmas’.

They added: ‘It’s one of his favourite times of year and he worries that if they travel back to the US, it will look like they’re giving up and choosing to miss out on time with his father.’

Meanwhile, the source said that Meghan is currently feeling very homesick and missing quality time with her mother, Doria Ragland.

‘[Meghan] misses her friends, she misses her day-to-day routine, and she really misses her mom,’ the insider revealed.

However, they did say that the Suits actor talks to her mother every day — usually multiple times, but that it’s ‘not the same as spending every weekend with her.’

There’s also Meghan’s reported reluctance to make ‘small talk’ with the royals over Christmas. Not to mention there being no word about whether Harry, Meghan and the kids have even been invited to Sandringham, King Charles III’s private country estate in Norfolk, where the royal family typically spend Christmas Day.

Sources have, however, suggested that Harry and Meghan are reportedly due to meet the King before Christmas.

This intel comes from celebrity reporter Rob Shuter, who said on his YouTube show Naughty but Nice that two royal sources have confirmed they’ve managed to seal a date in the monarch’s hectic diary.

‘It’s going to happen before Christmas. Two royal sources tell me it’s another sign that the Sussexes’ relationship with the King is slowly moving forward.’

Shuter also added that the King ‘wants to see his grandkids, so they will see each other,’ concluding: ‘I don’t know where this meeting is or when it’s going to be, but I’m told it is before Christmas.’

Before the Sussexes moved back to the UK, it was reported that King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted the family of four at Highgrove House in July.

It was the first time the King had seen his grandchildren in four years, since 2022, during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

It’s thought Harry and Meghan plan to stay in the UK, where they’re currently living in the Cotswolds, for an ‘extended’ period of time.
