Professor sacked for being suspect phantom urinator

An American college was caught in a string of pee-soaked incidents last year, with a professor sacked over the strange crime spree.

Science professor Paul Fischer, 55, was reported by a Macalester College student after she discovered her bag was covered in yellow liquid while working in the science centre.

The campus had been plagued by a series of bizarre urine-related incidents, according to court documents seen by CBS Minnesota.

The professor, who had taught there for over 25 years, has been charged with first-degree property damage and could face up to five years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000.

A female student had left her bag unsupervised for around six minutes, and when she returned, she found ‘urine on her backpack’.

She told investigators she thought Fischer was responsible, as she had been near his office and he was the only other person in the area at the time.

Ex-Macalester College professor Paul Fischer, 55, was charged with first-degree property damage and faces five years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000 for the alleged urine-soaked vandalism.

The Macalester College Department of Public Safety told police it had conducted its own investigation and found he was linked to six reports of ‘urinations occurring on campus’ between November 11 and December 5, 2025, according to local outlet Twin Cities Pioneer Press.

Pee was found in bins, in individuals’ water bottles, and inside other professors’ decorations.

Fischer admitted to the St Paul’s police that he had ‘developed a habit’ of ‘urinating in a cup’ over the past two years.

After peeing, he would then dispose of the liquid in bins or sinks around campus.

He told police that he may have accidentally soiled the bag, causing around $2,000 in damages, while throwing away his urine in a bin near his office.

‘Macalester College is aware of the criminal charge against Paul Fischer. Fischer’s employment with Macalester ended during the 2025–26 academic year,’ the school said in a statement.

Fischer is due in court in early November and attempts to contact him by various outlets have been unsuccessful. An attorney for the former professor was not listed.
