Pat Cash will always be remembered for pioneering the 'Champion's Climb' at Wimbledon when he refused to wait on Centre Court for the traditional trophy presentation after beating Ivan Lendl in the 1987 men's singles final.

Instead, he dramatically ran into the cheering crowd and climbed on to the roof of the commentary box to reach the players' box, where he embraced his then girlfriend, the Norwegian model Anne-Britt Kristiansen.

Now, he has served up another romantic gesture.

The Australian former champion, 61, has proposed to Charlotte Hodson, 54, a singer-songwriter whom he describes as his 'soulmate'.

He says: 'Every now and then, life can surprise you in the very best way. I am so incredibly lucky to know that, through an amazing string of coincidences, I found my soulmate. I can't help but believe God had it all planned to perfection. She said Yes.'

Charlotte, who lives in Buckinghamshire and is a massage therapist, first appeared publicly with Pat last year at Wimbledon, where he was commentating. She sings with the pop group Chocolate Charlie and has performed with Dannii Minogue and Westlife.

She has two sons, while Pat has four children, two with Anne-Britt and two with his Brazilian ex-wife, Emily Bendit, whom he married in 1990. They divorced in 2002. He became a grandfather aged 45.

In 2014, he spoke candidly about his mental health challenges, explaining: 'If it wasn't for my kids, I might have killed myself.

'I suffered from severe depression from the age of 19 until 35. It's no secret I experimented with drugs when I was younger, but the real issue was why I felt the need to. It was down to the stress I was under playing for my country, the expectations I put on myself and the expectations people put on me. I ended up checking into rehab for depression. Things got better when I retired from playing professionally.'

Princess Eugenie's pal Poppy Jamie once revealed that she discreetly excused herself during a dinner hosted by King Charles's niece three years ago – to inject herself with fertility drugs in the loo.

'Third trimester we've finally arrived,' says Poppy, 36, online next to this photograph of her growing bump. Her boyfriend is businessman Jack Bryant. 'As some of you know, I've been on a multi-year fertility journey and sadly lost two pregnancies at five months.

 Zoe BALL spoke last year of her breakdown after the death of her mother, Julia Peckham, which forced her to step away from her Radio 2 show. But it turns out that her son, Woody Cook, 25, has been able to keep in touch with his late grandmother. 'He's always talking to his grandparents in dreams. They come to him loads,' says Zoe, 55. 'I'm quite jealous. I'm, like, 'You get to see them all the time!'

Leggy Lindsey shows off ski crash recovery

Ski star Lindsey Vonn, who needed eight operations and narrowly escaped amputation after breaking her leg and ankle in the women's downhill race at the Winter Olympics in Italy in February, appears to have staged a remarkable recovery.

The American gold medallist even wore a pair of nude heels while attending a gala at the US Open in New York.

Lindsey, 41, who had been confined to a wheelchair, slipped into an olive-green CindyLou halter maxi dress for the tennis event, with medical tape still visible on her left calf and knee.

She has yet to decide whether to get back on the slopes, explaining: 'I may never race again and that would be completely fine.'

I'd rather rent, says Caroline 

Men Behaving Badly star Caroline Quentin has turned her back on home ownership after downsizing from a six-bedroom Devon farmhouse.

The comedy actress, 66, and her second husband Sam Farmer, who is 12 years her junior, are renting their latest home and have no plans to buy another.

She says of their former property: 'It had a two-acre vegetable garden, a two-acre orchard and a pool. The veg alone was exhausting.

'We've been in Somerset for just over a year, with a more manageable garden. We're really happy. I don't think we'll buy again.'

Zak's regeneration in The Who 

Almost 18 months after being surprisingly axed by The Who – having been the band's drummer for 29 years – Sir Ringo Starr's son Zak Starkey has been welcomed back into the fold.

Frontman Sir Roger Daltrey confirms that Zak, 60, recently rejoined The Who for rehearsals ahead of a possible European tour.

Zak says: 'I'm so happy to be back playing the music I love with people I love... it's good to be home.'

Starkey's dismissal last year – which involved him being officially fired twice in the space of days – proved a chaotic affair, with both sides claiming there'd been crossed wires over his schedule.

Even Sir Ringo became embroiled in the row.

The former Beatle witheringly concluding of fellow rock legend Sir Roger: 'I've never liked the way that little man runs that band.'
