A family of five were rescued by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution after becoming stranded on a tidal causeway in Humber.
On Wednesday, the RNLI were called by Humber Coastguard to rescue the 4×4 with two adults and three children inside.
The harrowing rescue was carried out with a rescue helicopter, Seahouses Coastguard Rescue Team, Berwick Coastguard Rescue Team and Holy Island Coastguard.
‘As further information came through, we were advised that all five people remained inside the vehicle — however, the vehicle had drifted off the carriageway,’ RNLI said.
‘Thankfully, all five people were safely rescued and returned to shore. But this incident is another stark reminder of just how quickly the tide can turn on the Holy Island Causeway.’
