Roberto De Zerbi has revealed that Kevin Danso, Richarlison and Pape Matar Sarr have asked to leave Tottenham ahead of the close of the transfer window.

All three players were left out of Spurs’ matchday squad as they fell to a 2-0 defeat at home to Newcastle on Saturday evening.

With Spurs overhauling their squad this summer, spending in excess of £300million on eight new players, De Zerbi has been unable to guarantee minutes to some of the fringe members of his squad.

The head coach has been adamant that if players want to leave, then they will be allowed to, and the club are now expected to sanction exits for Danso, Richarlison and Sarr before next Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

“Richarlison, I don’t know,” he said on Saturday evening.

“He said too many times [that] he wants to leave. Danso came to me two days ago, and he said he wants to leave, and Pape Sarr, the same, but he suffer[ed] a small injury, but he is almost ready to train.”

Spurs rejected a loan approach from Sunderland for Danso earlier this week, while Sarr has attracted interest from Aston Villa and Juventus.

Richarlison is also believed to be garnering suitors back in his native Brazil as well as his former club Everton.

Asked if there was any way back for the trio, De Zerbi added that the club’s priority was now to ensure that they get the best financial package possible for each player.

“I love these players, they are great guys, I have very good relationships, but if they want to leave, they have to bring the solution, the economic solution, to the club, and they can go, and we find other players.”
