'Sausage Smuggler' charged over thefts down trousers

A man who allegedly stuffed packs of sausages down the front of his trousers at a petrol station shop has been charged with theft.

Dubbed the "Sausage Smuggler", Thames Valley Police said CCTV showed packs of sausages being concealed down a man's trousers before he left without paying for the bangers.

Haydon Lucas is accused of rifling through the sausage shelf four times at the BP in Newbury, returning weekly at first and then twice within four days, with the total value of stolen meat reaching nearly £600.

The 30-year-old, of Downside, East Ilsley has been charged with four counts of shoplifting.

Lucas is due to appear at Slough Magistrates' Court on 5 November.
