Spotify has crashed for thousands of listeners globally both on the app and desktop versions.

Users are complaining about being unable to search for new songs with some getting a ‘Couldn’t load the page, try again message’

There were 4,060 users complaining about issues with the Swedish streaming giants at around 3pm GMT, according to DownDetector.

Spotify posted on X: ‘We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out!’

Users were quick to rage that they had tried to log out and then back in to no avail.

One miffed user said: ‘Too bad I deleted and reloaded the app thinking it was me. Now I can’t log in or play the music I had downloaded.’

Others complained: ‘Restarted my phone, deleted the app, reloaded…still nothing…been a couple of hours now. I hope my account is not ruined.’

Some people have said they finally got back into the app through the desktop.

In April, the Swedish music streaming group announced a jump in the number of subscribers despite hiking prices in the UK and some of its biggest markets worldwide.

It reported a higher-than-expected 12% rise in monthly active users, to 761 million in the first three months of the year, and a 9% rise in paying subscribers to 293 million.

This came in spite of the group pushing through recent price increases, with UK premium subscriptions rising 8.3% or £1 to £12.99 a month as of November, while family plans increased by £2 to £21.99 a month.
