A man has died after being pulled from the sea near Devon.
Emergency services were called to Blackpool Sands, Strete, on Monday afternoon where they found the swimmer after he got into difficulty in the water.
The man, in his 40s and from Surrey, received treatment by paramedics but was pronounced dead at the scene.
His death is not being treated as suspicious.
A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: ‘Police were called by HM Coastguard at 3.30pm on Monday August 24 following concerns for the welfare of a man at Blackpool Sands, Strete.

‘The man had got into difficulty while swimming in the sea and was recovered from the water by HM Coastguard.
‘He was treated at the scene by paramedics.
‘Sadly, the man, who was in his 40s from Surrey, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
‘His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.’
There have been a number of deaths by drowning in recent weeks, including Shelina Rahman and her 15-year-old daughter Sameeha who died after several people got into difficulty on West Mersea beach.
Musa Ahmed, aged seven, was airlifted to hospital but died several days later.
Over the course of the UK’s five heatwaves this year, multiple teenagers have also died in the water.
The RNLI has shared water safety advice on its website. ‘Heading to the coast or out on the water is a great way to have fun and stay active,’ the charity says.
‘But, if you’re not careful, it’s a lot easier to get into trouble in the water than you might think. Conditions can change quickly and if you’re not prepared, you can easily get caught out.’
If you get into trouble in the water, the RNLI recommends using its ‘Float to Live’ method.
First, tilt your head back, submerging your ears in the water. Try to relax and keep your breathing under control.
Move your hands and legs to help you stay afloat. The RNLI says it’s okay if your legs sink.
You may want to practice this technique at a supervised location before you go swimming. Always stick to designated areas.
