A boy has died during a family trip to a Greek holiday island after a suspected electric shock.
The 17-year-old, who has not been named, died on Sunday, August 9, following the incident believed to involve faulty wiring.
He collapsed after an electric shock while having a shower on the island of Kimolos, according to local sources.
The Irish family are said to have links to the island, where the boy’s mum comes from.
A police source told The Irish Sun: ‘He died in the shower as a result of electric shock.
‘There was clearly some sort of wiring fault. It was instant.’

A forensic and technical inspection is being carried out in the rental home to investigate a possible fault.
The stone house is said to have been built before the 1970s.
A post-mortem examination was set to take place near the capital Athens yesterday, according to the outlet. The boy’s body would later be flown to Ireland so his loved ones can pay their respects, it is understood.
Local officials described the incident as ‘unprecedented,’ and that it had cast a shadow over the island.
A spokesperson for Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs told in a statement: ‘The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is aware of this case and is providing consular assistance. As with all consular cases, the Department does not comment on the details of individual cases.’
Kimolos is located in the Aegean Sea in the southwest section of the Cyclades island cluster, near the larger island of Milos.
The island had 810 residents in a 2021 census.
