A teenager has been jailed for raping a 19-year-old woman in a portable toilet on a seafront.

Mohammed Abdullah, 19, from the West Drayton area in Middlesex, was found guilty of raping and sexual assaulting the woman by penetration on Bournemouth seafront in the early hours of 6 July 2025.

He was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison and will also be placed on the sex offenders register for life.

Det Insp Shaun Inkpen, of Dorset Police's Major Crime Investigation Team, said: "Throughout our investigation and the subsequent criminal justice process she [the victim] has shown immense strength, courage and resilience."

Speaking after Abdullah was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court, Inkpen acknowledged "the bravery of the young woman in coming forward and reporting such a horrific and terrifying sexual attack".

He said her evidence played a "crucial role" in securing Abdullah's conviction and subsequent custodial sentence.

Senior Prosecutor, Samantha Wright, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said Abdullah "exploited a young woman who was vulnerable and simply trying to get home safely".

"Having gained her trust by offering her a lift, he subjected her to a terrifying sexual attack".

"Violence against women and girls has no place in our communities," she added.

During the trial, prosecutor Mark Eldridge said that the complainant had been out with a friend on the night of the attack, firstly in Charminster before moving on to Bar So in Bournemouth.

He said that after having had a "fair amount to drink" she and her friend headed off in different directions and the complainant began walking home along the seafront where she came across Abdullah who was with friends and who then offered to give her a lift home on his e-bike.

They stopped at a portable toilet where Abdullah sexually assaulted her before raping her.

Eldridge said: "She was wriggling and trying to fight and then thought if she let it happen it would be quicker."

He added: "The defendant kissed her aggressively and she pulled away but somehow got a burst lip."

He said that afterwards the defendant rode off while the complainant "took her shoes off in order to run".

She then asked passers-by to use their phones to call her mother who she told what had happened before calling the police.

Inkpen said it had been a "challenging investigation" and added: "Reporting sexual violence is incredibly difficult.

"However, I hope this demonstrates our commitment to support victims of rape and sexual offences and ensuring perpetrators are held to account for such serious crimes."

Abdullah will also be placed on the sex offenders register for life.
