Texas mom tells police 'I shot both my kids' before their bodies are found inside home

A Texas mother allegedly told police 'I shot both my kids' after she gunned down her two sons inside their home, authorities said.

Colleen Lemmon, 42, has been charged with two counts of capital murder after she fatally shot her sons on Thursday morning in Waxahachie, about 30 miles outside of Dallas, the Ellis County Sheriff's Office said.

Officers responded to a 911 call around 4.15am, where they found Christopher Scott Pitre, 21, deceased from a gunshot wound to the head, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by NBC 5 DFW.

Another victim, 15-year-old Brian Pitre, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, where he later died, his family told the outlet. He was also shot in the head.

The brothers were discovered in separate bedrooms, while their mother was found covered in blood with a gun next to her inside the residence, police said.

When asked by police where the blood came from, Lemmon told officers, 'I shot both my kids,' the affidavit detailed.

After his sons were killed, Scott Pitre said that all he wants is justice for his boys.

The grieving father told the outlet that they had just celebrated Brian's 15th birthday at the lake on Sunday.

Lemmon suffered non-life-threatening injuries after she appeared to have self-inflicted cuts on her wrists, according to Fox 4.

The mother was taken into custody and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment before being booked into the Wayne McCollum Detention Center.

She is being held on a $2.5 million bond, according to jail records reviewed by the Daily Mail.

An arraignment hearing has not yet been set and no attorney is listed for her as of Sunday morning.

Graveside funerals are set to be held for the brothers at 11am on Friday at Ferris Memorial Park North, according to their obituaries.

It is unclear what led to the deadly shooting.

Neighbors who live by the family have been left in complete shock after hearing about the shooting.

'It's heartbreaking, and I'm praying for them,' Ira Brown told Fox 4.

She added: 'I'm praying for God to let me understand, you know. There is no understanding, I guess, but it just hurts, and I didn't even know them and it hurts.'

Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman also sent his condolences to the brothers' family.

'My deepest sympathies go out to the victims’ father, family members, and loved ones involved in this tragic incident.

'They will remain in our prayers during this difficult time,' he said.

A GiveSendGo fundraiser has been launched by the brothers' aunt to help cover their funeral expenses.

As of Sunday morning, more than $3,500 had been raised.

The Daily Mail contacted Scott and the Ellis County Sheriff's Office for comment.
