London is getting a taste of Bavaria this autumn, with giant beer halls, oompah bands, steins of German beer and plenty of lederhosen taking over the capital.

From the huge Oktoberfest celebration in Finsbury Park to rooftop parties in Brixton and Bavarian-style festivities in Soho, there are plenty of ways to get involved without booking a flight to Munich.

Oktoberfest is the world’s biggest beer festival, traditionally held in Munich, Germany.

The festival dates back to 1810, when Munich held celebrations for the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. The event was such a success that it became an annual tradition.

Today, Oktoberfest is famous for its giant steins of beer, Bavarian food, live music, fairground rides and traditional dress, including lederhosen and dirndls.

The official Munich Oktoberfest runs from Saturday, September 19 to Sunday, October 4, 2026.

London doesn't have one official Oktoberfest, however, so celebrations take place across the capital from September through October, with everything from full-scale beer festivals to one-night parties.

London Oktoberfest - Finsbury Park

When: Thursday, October 1 – Saturday, October 3, 2026

One of London's biggest Oktoberfest celebrations, this three-day festival brings the Bavarian party to north London with a giant tented hall, live music, lederhosen and plenty of beer.

The event welcomes more than 50,000 people and serves genuine FestBeer brewed near Nuremberg, alongside traditional German food and entertainment.

Oktoberfest on the Common - Clapham

Clapham Common is getting its own Bavarian makeover, complete with giant steins, live brass bands, dancing, fairground rides and Bavarian games.

Albert's Schloss is going all-in on its Bavarian alter ego, with five weeks of Oktoberfest celebrations.

Expect live oompah bands, cabaret, keg tappings and plenty of steins, while Saturdays bring an Oktoberfest-themed bottomless brunch.

Five Points Brewery Taproom – Hackney

When: Friday, October 2 - Sunday, October 4

Hackney's Five Points Brewery is bringing Oktoberfest to its taproom with long communal benches, two-pint steins and live oompah bands.

There will also be German-inspired food from From the Ashes BBQ, including smoked ham hock sharers.

When: Saturdays, September 26 – October 24

Where: Flat Iron Square, Southwark

Flat Iron Square is hosting Oktoberfest celebrations every Saturday, with live oompah music, an MC, DJs and plenty of beer and bratwurst.

General admission includes a two-pint stein, so this one is definitely aimed at groups looking for a full afternoon of drinking, eating and dancing.

When: Thursday, September 24 and Thursday, October 1

Where: Amazing Grace, London Bridge

For something a little more compact, Amazing Grace is hosting two Bavarian-themed evenings featuring a five-piece brass band, German beer, happy hour deals and plenty of food.

Early bird tickets include a German pint on arrival, while the £30 Big Bavarian Bundle comes with a pint, giant pretzel and bratwurst hot dog or spice bag, plus guaranteed seating.

Riverside East is getting into the Oktoberfest spirit with BREW//LDN's first Oktoberfest event.

The outdoor celebration will feature more than 30 beers on tap, making it a particularly good option for serious beer fans.

South London gets its own Bavarian party as Freight transforms its rooftop into an Oktoberfest-style beer hall.

Expect live oompah bands, DJ sets, interactive games and German beer, with the party running into the evening.
