The first official trailer for The Grand Tour reboot has dropped – and gained a rather unexpected response from viewers.

The Prime Video series, which was originally hosted by former Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond, returns to our screens in September with a new team at the steering wheel.

The new trio of presenters are Canadian YouTubers Thomas Holland and James Engelsman, and British TikTok train fanatic Francis Bourgeois (real name Luke Magnus Nicolson), with fans being given a first glimpse of their dynamic in a new trailer that dropped on Wednesday (19 August).

The trailer begins with Bourgeois introducing his co-stars to their "first grand tour” before they are seen speeding around a race track.

And while news of The Grand Tour's reboot was initially met with some scepticism, the reaction to the trailer was remarkably positive, with even the most loyal fans of the original trio seeming impressed.

"I can't believe I'm saying this but I think this has a chance to work," admitted one fan, while another said: "I was one of the people that said they have no chance and that I will never watch this show without the OG trio. But this really looks great. I’m gonna give it a try!"

Another commenter agreed, writing: "It looks like they are genuinely having a great time and that there is real chemistry between them."

Many commenters pointed out the support that the original trio had thrown behind The Grand Tour, with one writing: "Honestly, the fact that these guys have the blessing from Wilman, Clarkson, Hammond and May... I'm excited for it."

Bourgeois, the TikTok train fanatic, is in the driving seat

As the hosts of popular car review YouTube channel Throttle House, Engelsman and Holland felt like natural choices for The Grand Tour's reboot.

A more unconventional choice was Bourgeois, who rose to fame posting train spotting videos online; however, he trained as a mechanical engineer and worked at Rolls-Royce.

The new series will see the trio visit California to test out the latest US muscle cars: the Ford Mustang GTD, the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, and the £2 million Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution Evolution.

The show arrives on Prime Video on 4 September, and earlier this month, it was revealed that the original presenters will be making a guest appearance on the new show.
