As high street stalwarts John Lewis and M&S unveil their Christmas TV adverts, iconic retailers including Liberty, Selfridges and Harrods deck the halls of their flagships – all in time for Black Friday 2026.
The Black Friday sale will take place both online and offline, with London’s brick-and-mortar stores all participating throughout November.
But there’s more to the month than premature Christmas shopping and festive jolity. From a major new museum opening to comedy from Grace Campbell, here’s what to shop, see and do in London this November, according to a shopping editor.
Get ahead of Christmas shopping with Black Friday

Christmas shopping season is officially upon us, and Black Friday offers the perfect opportunity to get ahead of the festive rush without paying full price. Falling on Friday 27 November this year, the annual shopping event brings discounts across fashion, beauty, technology, homeware and more, with many retailers launching their promotions well ahead of the big day.
Whether you’re eyeing up a new Dyson hair tool, investing in a kitchen appliance (think air fryers and coffee machines) or searching for presents for particularly difficult-to-buy-for relatives, November is the time to start comparing prices and keeping an eye on early offers. Don’t forget Cyber Monday on 30 November, either.
London’s Christmas lights illuminations herald the start of the festive season. Throughout the month, there are plenty of opportunities to see the spectacle. Carnaby Street kicks things off on 4 November with its colourful, 1990s-inspired ‘Press Play on Christmas’ display, followed by Regent Street’s iconic Spirit of Christmas angels on 5 November.
Oxford Street gets a magical makeover on 9 November, with a Harry Potter-inspired theme, while Marylebone Village celebrates on 11 November. Covent Garden and Bond Street follow on 12 November, with the former bringing back its famous 50ft Christmas tree, 300,000 lights and theatrical decorations. Best of all, the displays are free to enjoy – the Chelsea Christmas light switch-on (19 November) is always particularly fun, with markets, live music and food pop-ups.
Discover Claridge’s Christmas tree by Anya Hindmarch
Few festive traditions are as eagerly anticipated in the capital as the annual Christmas tree unveiling at the historic hotel Claridge’s. This year, the Mayfair institution has enlisted British designer Anya Hindmarch to create its much-loved festive centrepiece. Unveiled on 25 November, the traditional fir tree will take inspiration from fairytales and become a Christmas Treehouse in the hotel’s famous lobby.
It’s the latest in a long line of high-profile collaborations, following previous designs by the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Louboutin and Sir Paul Smith. More than enough reason to pop in for a festive cocktail or book a luxury staycation in the city.
Outerwear maximalism for Barbour x Farm Rio

Scottish heritage brand Barbour and dopamine-inducing Brazilian label Farm Rio have reunited for their third collection. The two brands bring their recognisable ethos to a gloriously outlandish winter line – countryside dressing with a joyous, bold twist. An ode to a tropical greenhouse, the collection reimagines Barbour’s heritage check, wax and wool with Farm Rio’s vibrant botanical prints.
From quilted outerwear to scallop-trim knitwear and clashing print parkas, the collection nods to this season’s hottest trends (capes and check) but adds a kitch, floral touch. If you’re looking for a statement winter coat, bookmark this collab.
See The Connaught’s Christmas tree reveal

Another Mayfair hotel worth visiting for its festive decorations is The Connaught. Its annual Christmas tree unveiling takes place on 19 November, as part of the Mount Street Neighbourhood Holiday Festival, which runs from 19 - 21 November. The evening celebrations begin at 6 pm, with the official tree switch-on at 6.30 pm.
Visitors can also enjoy festive workshops, shopping experiences and special screenings of at nearby Grosvenor Chapel. It’s an excellent excuse to explore one of London’s prettiest neighbourhoods as it gets ready for Christmas.
Experience The London Service at Crafted

Fancy escaping the capital for a night without having to travel too far? Crafted at Powdermills in East Sussex is launching The London Service, a new monthly dining series bringing some of London’s most exciting restaurants to its kitchen. The first event takes place on 20 November, with Chelsea’s Mexican restaurant Ixchel taking over for one night only.
Expect a three-course sharing menu from chef Ximena Gayosso Gonzalez, with a drink included, for £60 per person. Future collaborations will include Clerkenwell favourite Morchella in January and St James’s brasserie Maison François in February. Turn dinner into a mini-break with an overnight stay and breakfast. Crafted’s wild swimming lake, sauna, pub dining, and countryside location make it a more than appealing alternative to another night in London.
Kurt Gieger x Paddington collaboration as a homage to London

Synonymous with maximalist bags, shoes and accessories, Kurt Geiger has long drawn inspiration from its London home town. But the label’s latest collaboration is embracing the capital in a whole new way.
To mark the start of the festive season, the label has playfully teamed up with the British icon Paddington. Reimagining the beloved bear through a glamorous London lens, the colourful collaboration features handbags, footwear and accessories. Bringing together Paddington’s charm with Kurt Geiger’s signature bold aesthetic, the capsule spans collectable bag charms, statement Paddington handbags and colourful slippers – all ready-made for Christmas gifting.
Explore the new London Museum in Smithfield

One of the biggest cultural openings of the year arrives at the end of November, when London Museum opens the doors to its new home in Smithfield on 28 November. Housed in the historic General Market buildings, the ambitious redevelopment marks a new chapter for the institution, bringing London’s past and present together through thousands of objects and stories.
Across its new galleries, visitors can explore everything from the Great Fire of London to more unexpected pieces of the capital’s history, including the infamous Whitechapel fatberg. With free permanent galleries and an impressive new setting, it’s a welcome addition to London’s cultural calendar – and tickets are free.
Book tickets for Hyde Park Winter Wonderland

It’s not really Christmas in London until Winter Wonderland returns to Hyde Park. Opening on 19 November and running until 3 January, the annual festive attraction brings its familiar combination of fairground rides, Christmas markets, ice skating, circus performances and seasonal food and drink to the capital.
Whether you’re planning a family day out, a festive date or an evening with friends, there’s plenty to keep you entertained. Tickets must be booked in advance for a specific date and arrival time. There’s also a handy offer for those planning to spend at the event: spend £25 online to unlock free entry.
Catch Grace Campbell at the London Palladium
For something a little less festive, comedian Grace Campbell brings her latest show, The Lady Is a Tramp, to the London Palladium on 7 November. Known for her candid, provocative approach to comedy, Campbell has built a following through her stand-up, writing and podcast.
Expect an evening of sharp observations, irreverent humour and plenty of unfiltered commentary. It’s a chance to catch one of the UK’s buzziest comedy voices at one of the West End’s most iconic venues.
Last chance to book About Oh, Mary! at the Trafalgar Theatre

Arriving in London’s West End from Broadway, the critically acclaimed About Oh, Mary! sees Lolly Adefope star as the titular Mary Todd Lincoln. The dark comedy depicts Abraham Lincoln’s wife in the weeks leading up to his assassination as a miserable, suffocated and alcohol-dependent First Lady, desperate to return to her lifelong passion as a cabaret performer. The play concludes its run on 9 December – nab a £25 seat from TodayTix while you still can.
