Firefighters rescued 27 thrill-seekers from a rollercoaster at a theme park that had come to a stop 50ft in the air.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service crews used equipment to bring down passengers who were suspended in carriages on the Wipeout rollercoaster at Pleasurewood Hills in Lowestoft, East Suffolk.

The ride is described by the theme park online as the “ultimate thrill” with “twists, turns, a loop, and two cobra rolls”.

Pictures taken on Monday show firefighters assisting those on the ride, which appears to have come to a stop in a dip.

None of the passengers were upside down, but the images appear to show some sitting at an angle in one of the twists.

The 130ft tall ride is described as the park’s “flagship rollercoaster” and the biggest in East Anglia.
