Tottenham have suffered a major injury blow as they prepare to face Everton this weekend.

Roberto De Zerbi is still searching for his first Premier League win of the campaign after the north Londoners’ stuttering start, which has seen them beaten by Brentford and Newcastle.

Spurs then drew 0-0 with Nottingham Forest, and they then host the Toffees before their midweek Carabao Cup clash against Liverpool.

After over £300million was spent on the Italian in the summer, the pressure will be on De Zerbi to deliver.

One of the two eyebrow-raising Deadline Day arrivals, Mudryk joined Spurs for more regular game time after his return to football.

The Ukrainian had not kicked a ball competitively for almost two years following his ban for breaching anti-doping rules, which became official in June last year.

The winger has since been cleared to play again, and Spurs moved to land a forward that De Zerbi knows well on loan.

He made his debut for his new side at the City Ground last weekend, but there has been a major setback.

Mudryk has suffered an ankle injury in training, which will keep him out for a minimum of six weeks, perhaps even stretching to eight.

It comes as a major blow not just to Tottenham, but to the player himself, who was looking to play himself back into form.

Maddison has been sidelined since the opening game of the season, where he suffered a broken shoulder against Brentford.

The attacking midfielder came off the bench at the Gtech Community Stadium, looking to rebuild his fitness after an ACL injury kept him out for the majority of last term.

He missed the trip to Forest, but there is fresh hope that he will return to the field having made his comeback to team training.

The Swedish international is closing on a return, according to international manager Graham Potter.

The former Chelsea boss revealed that the versatile forward was inching towards a comeback after over 500 days out on the sidelines with a complex kneecap problem.

Kulusevski has been back on the training pitch, but his return to action will be phased cautiously.

"He's very close actually. I'm so impressed with him, how he's handled his injury,” said Potter, speaking to Swedish outlet SVT.

"Of course we have to be careful with him. I hope he comes with us, but we have to talk to Dejan and Tottenham first.”

Dutchman Simons will not be back on the pitch this year after tearing his ACL against Wolves in April.

The attacking midfielder saw his season curtailed with the serious knee injury, but he will be eyeing a comeback after the Christmas period.

He is ahead of Simons on the recovery trail, and he could well see a return to action before the year is out, although nothing has been confirmed yet.
