Carragher praises Arsenal

This is what Jamie Carragher has said about Arsenal’s transfer business.

“It’s not just the quality of signings it’s the age.

"This is about getting the league won this season – two players who are 28 right now.

"In terms of business, you’d probably think it’s a lot of money to pay for players of that age, but if they are parading around here again at the end of the season, it’s done its job.

"I think the signings that they have made is about winning [the title again] right now.”

What Arsenal fans can expect from Konsa

He may not be in the squad tonight, but Ezri Konsa has revealed what Arsenal fans can expect once he gets going.

He said: “I like to build up from the back and I like to have a lot of the ball. It's Mikel's style and from what I've seen from games, it's the same way the defenders here play.

“So hopefully I can add a little bit more.

“It's good being versatile. I can do both jobs, right-back and centre-back, but for me ultimately, wherever the manager wants to put me is, I’ll always do a job and do my best.”

Brighton have rejected Liverpool's latest offer for Yankuba Minteh.

As per Sky Sports, Liverpool’s new £60m proposal did not meet Brighton's valuation.

Will it be third time lucky for the Reds?

'Man Utd must finally sign Frenkie de Jong'

Former Manchester United forward Giuseppe Rossi has revealed his dream signing.

Speaking to BetBrothers, he said: “I love Frenkie de Jong. If De Jong becomes available now Rodri is at Barcelona, he’s the only other midfielder I would want to see signed by Manchester United this summer.

“He is an amazing player to have on any team whether it’s Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea or Bayern Munich because he dictates the tempo, moves between the lines and his understanding of space and positions is so very sound.

“That should be the sort of player a club like Manchester United always want. Listen, I don’t think they need another midfielder this summer, but if De Jong became available, he’s a player you sign.”

When Ezri Konsa can make his Arsenal debut

Ezri Konsa is on course to make his Arsenal debut against Aston Villa at the end of the month.

understands the Konsa has been Arsenal’s top defensive target all summer with manager Mikel Arteta keen to bring in reinforcements amid injuries to William Saliba and Jurrien Timber.

A deal had looked to be in doubt as the Gunners had no intention of meeting Villa’s £60million valuation of the 28-year-old, though following a breakthrough regarding a compromise, a deal worth £55m was announced on Friday.

As such, Konsa has become the Premier League champions’ fourth signing of the summer transfer window - after Illan Meslier, Christos Tzolis and Bruno Guimaraes.

However, the Gunners have lost the race against the clock to have the England international available for selection against Coventry City.

Sunderland have completed the signing Dayann Methalie.

The defender joins from Toulouse in a deal worth up to £25.7m (€30m).

Chelsea transfer alert

Chelsea are open to loan proposals for Dario Essugo, writes Dom Smith.

The Blues have made the Portuguese youth international available for a temporary transfer for the 2026-27 campaign.

understands Chelsea have not made a concrete decision to loan him.

Rather, they have alerted the market to Essugo’s availability to viable season-long loan proposals, as they look to put moving pieces into place to shrink the size of their first-team squad.
