Could Richarlison leave Tottenham to return to his native Brazil?

It looks to be the former Everton forward’s last hope of leaving Spurs, with most other potential avenues and summer transfer windows now closed.

Richarlison has been most strongly linked with Vasco da Gama, whose manager Pedro Emanuel was asked about the player after Tuesday’s 0-0 draw with Santa Fe in the Copa Sudamericana.

“I think my silence says it all,” he said, per ESPN.

“I work with the players who are here; he is a player I respect greatly, a player everyone knows, but they aren’t here and I don’t feel I have the right to comment on something that isn’t part of our day-to-day lives, of my reality.

“I’m sorry I can’t answer, but that’s all I can say at the moment.”

Chelsea may yet face a battle with Liverpool over both Lamine Camara and Manu Kone.

As already mentioned, the Blues looked to have secured a last-gasp £47m deal for Camara on Deadline Day last week in a late scramble to replace Enzo Fernandez, only for Monaco to unexpectedly pull out of the agreement at the 11th hour with only a medical left needing to be completed.

Liverpool have since emerged as potential contenders for the Senegal international, while The Athletic now claim that the Reds- as well as Manchester United - are also interested in Roma’s Kone, who was another player whom Chelsea looked strongly at signing after selling Fernandez to rivals Manchester City for £125m.

Chelsea have reportedly been given the green light to launch a massive swoop for Fermin Lopez.

The Spain attacking midfielder is a long-term transfer target at Stamford Bridge, where plenty more movement is expected both in January and at the end of the season after a typically hectic summer window that ended in dramatic fashion with the collapse of a £47m deal for Monaco’s Lamine Camara.

Reports in Spain cited by football365 claim that Chelsea are now back in pursuit of Lopez as they seek their high-profile replacement for Enzo Fernandez and could make an ambitious move in January, with an offer worth £103m potentially enough to tempt Barcelona into a sale of a key player under Hansi Flick.

Manchester United look to have been handed a major new boost over Lewis Hall.

The England defender is known to be a top transfer priority at Old Trafford, where there is a desire to secure a new left-back as the long-term successor to Luke Shaw.

talkSPORT claim that Newcastle could still sell Hall next summer, despite the player being understood to have agreed a bumper contract extension on Tyneside lasting until the summer of 2031.

It is being widely reported that the new deal - which adds a further two years on to his current agreement - will not contain a release clause, meaning Man Utd will likely have to pay a huge fee in order to prise the 22-year-old away from St James’ Park.

While Christos Tzolis continues to thrive, the Gunners did not strengthen their attack nearly as much as they would have liked during the summer transfer window after missing out on high-profile deals for the likes of Julian Alvarez and Vinicius Jr.

TEAMtalk now cites reports claiming that Arsenal are considering a new move for Juventus forward Yildiz, who is currently sidelined after undergoing surgery on a foot fracture last month.

Meanwhile, the reigning and unbeaten Premier League champions are also said to be eyeing highly-rated Como attacker Paz, but face a fierce battle with Real Madrid, who retain a buy-back clause believed to be worth around €80m.

Arsenal could make a move for Como attacking midfielder Nico Paz next year.

According to reports in Spain, Arsenal are monitoring the 22-year-old, who attracted significant interest during the summer. Tottenham have reportedly previously had two bids rejected for Paz.

Any potential Arsenal move could be complicated by Real Madrid’s €80m buy-back clause, which gives the Spanish giants an option to re-sign Paz and could influence his future.

So claim BBC Sport, who add the Blues had earmarked the Norwegian as a potential replacement for their Man City-bound Argentine.

They ultimately moved instead for Lamine Camara, but that deal fell through when Monaco refused to sign off on the sale at the last minute.

Arsenal are making significant progress on a new contract for Mikel Arteta, with the manager expected to commit his long-term future to the club in the coming weeks.

Accotding to TEAMtalk, the Gunners are also advancing talks over new deals for three important first-team players: Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber. All three remain central to Arteta’s plans as Arsenal look to build on their Premier League title success.

Odegaard is regarded as a key figure at the Emirates and remains Arsenal’s captain, while Rice has established himself as one of the leaders of the midfield. Timber, meanwhile, has developed into an important defensive option since arriving from Ajax.

Arsenal’s priority is to secure the futures of their manager and core players, providing continuity as they target further domestic and European success. The club are now increasingly confident that agreements with Arteta and the three players can be reached.

Liverpool are preparing for the possibility of losing Alexis Mac Allister next summer, with the midfielder attracting interest from Manchester City.

According to reports, Liverpool have identified Chelsea target Adam Wharton as a potential replacement for the Argentina international. The Reds are understood to be monitoring the Crystal Palace midfielder ahead of next summer.

Mac Allister remains an important part of Liverpool’s squad, but the club could consider his departure if a suitable offer arrives. Wharton, meanwhile, has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most highly rated young midfielders and is also being tracked by Chelsea.

Liverpool could therefore face competition for the 22-year-old if they decide to make their interest concrete next summer.

Tottenham and forward Richarlison are running out of options for an amicable conclusion to a messy transfer saga.

With the windows in Turkey and Saudi Arabia shut, Richarlison faces the prospect of not being able to play competitively until January after De Zerbi left the 29-year-old out of the Premier League squad list in favour of injured duo Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons.

A return back to Brazil has been an option throughout Richarlison’s four-year spell at Spurs and earlier in 2026 it was reported a verbal agreement had been reached with Flamengo.

There were subsequently no developments, but Richarlison started out in his homeland with America Mineiro and Fluminense and in recent days Vasco da Gama fans have started a campaign to sign the Brazil international.

If Richarlison wants to avoid sitting on the sidelines for the next four months, a short-term loan back to any Serie A club in Brazil could be a solution.

Richarlison’s old manager Marco Silva took charge of Benfica this summer and continues to hold a close relationship with the Tottenham forward.

The pair shared a warm embrace after Spurs lost 2-1 at Fulham in March and Silva said afterwards: “He was a special player for me. I brought him to this country and after for the second club as well. He’s going to be always special.”

Whilst the Portuguese transfer window does not close until September 15, Benfica already signed forward Jhon Duran this summer and Silva has other attacking options which may rule out a reunion with his old boss.

Elsewhere?

The two other realistic options for Richarlison to resume his career elsewhere would be to secure moves to Russia or Mexico where clubs can continue to sign players until Thursday and Friday of this week respectively.

If Richarlison decides none of the aforementioned options are viable, his only chance of minutes until January could be with Spurs’ Under-21s.
